There are many IRC programs available for many operating system/computer platforms. One of the most flexible and customizable of them all (and one of the oldest) is mIRC and stands to be the official program to operate The TomBobBlender Show and all of its functions. If you would like to use mIRC for your chatting needs on The TomBobBlender Show, please follow this tutorial easy setup directions.

1. When you first launch mIRC, you may be presented with a evaluation copy window. If so, just click CONTINUE, and you should be presented with a window called 'mIRC Options'. From this window, click on SERVERS which is under the lefthand menu.

2. From this window, click ADD.

3. You will now be presented with this window. Only fill out the portions that are circled in red.

Fill it out using the following;

  • Description: The TomBobBlender Show
  • IRC Servers: (Pick One Of Three) chat.tombobblender.com, rizon.mibbit.org, or irc.rizon.net
  • Port: 6667
  • Group: TomBobBlender

The completed fields should look something like this;

You don't need to fill in anything for the PASSWORD: field. When you have verified that all of the information was entered correctly, go ahead and click OK.

4. Now click SELECT.

5. Fill out the NICKNAME: field using your desired chat username.

When you're finished with that, click on 'OPTIONS' on the lefthand menu.

6. In this window, you will need to CHECKMARK the "Connect on Startup" and UNCHECK the "Show Connect on Startup" (these are circled in red for easy location in the image below).

These modifications should look just like the image below. Once you are certain of these changes, click 'PERFORM...'

7. From here, click ADD

Scroll through the menu until you have found 'TomBobBlender'. Select it then click OK.

Now we will need to fill in a few lines of code to tell mIRC to connect to the chat room automatically every time you start the program. After this step, you will never need to be bothered with typing a bunch of weird commands just to join the room. Let's get to it!

After each line you type in, make sure you press your [ENTER] key. In total, you should have three separate lines. The first line should read like this:

  • /nick TomBobBlender

(replace TomBobBlender with your chatroom username. This is the name you have already registered through NickServ.}

  • /msg NickServ IDENTIFY mypassword

(replace mypassword with your chatroom username password.')'

  • /join #tombobblender

(this command tells mIRC to automatically join the chatroom.)

When your three lines match the bottom image minus the TomBobBlender and mypassword, be sure to CHECKMARK the top box labeled, 'Enable perform on connect', then click OK.

8. Now click OK.

9. Now it's time to close mIRC and relaunch it.

10. When you relaunch mIRC, you may be presented with this window.

Simply UNCHECK the option, "Pop up favorites on connect" and you will not be bothered with it anymore. If everything went as planned in this tutorial, you should now be logged in to the chatroom with your username all registered and voiced!
